US Servas Board Member
Occupation:I am currently retired since January, 2022. Before that, I managed Hematology Oncology Clinical research studies for major Pharmaceutical and Biotherapeutic companies. NGO Experience:I am currently the treasurer for US Servas, and have volunteered as a treasurer with other organizations and have held investment licenses in New York state. I attended US Servas Annual conference in 2021 and 2023.
| Skills: I have served as a US Servas Board member for 2020-2023 term. During that term, we transitioned from having a bricks-and-mortar office with employees to an all-volunteer organization. I helped develop the Servas 5-branch structure. For last year and a half, I have served as a treasurer and liaison to the Finance branch. I have participated in Peace and Justice committee and have interviewed new members when needed. Together with other board members, I have made Servas finances transparent, organized, and accountable. 2022 was the first year when we were in black. Our operational income could support the expenses without drawing any funds from the investment account. I have worked with past and present board members collaboratively to take the organization forward. During my tenure, I was fortunate to travel extensively in South America (4 months) and in South Pacific Island nations (4.5 months). I met with local members and the leaders in respective Servas groups. I have recruited new members and volunteers. | Ideas: I would like to carry forward Servas current mission and collaborate with other similar non-profit organizations. We had opportunities to collaborate in last three years, but it was deferred until we have worked thru the processes to improve Servas day to day operation. Now that we have good grip on Servas operation and finances, it is time to expand our reach and collaborate with other organizations. |
