At 11 o’clock November 11, 1918,  WW1 was ended.  The day was marked as Remembrance /Armistice Day - a day to mourn the dead and a day to recommit to preventing future wars.

In 1954, after the U.S. war on Korea, President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially changed the name of the holiday from Remembrance/Armistice Day to Veterans Day.

Sadly, in contrast to how it began,  the day has become understood as a day to praise war and warriors.

Let's stand together and make it a day to mourn all victims of war and advocate for the ending of all war.
