SYLE - Language and Cultural Exchange Program |
What is SYLE Servas offers a language and cultural immersion program for younger members called SYLE (Servas Youth Language Experience). It is a unique opportunity for Servas members ages 18-30 to spend a month in the country of your choice, where we have hosts see-list, immersed in the local language and culture! SYLE is a flexible and adaptable program, designed by you together with US and host country coordinators to suit your desires and goals. The program usually lasts for one month, staying approximately 1 week each with 4 different host families. As with any Servas stay, daily activities depend on the circumstances of the host families as well as the desires of the traveler. | Who Can Apply
SYLE programs are for Servas travel members only, so make sure that you have (or are in the process of getting) a validated letter of introduction (LOI) before applying. This means after you join at the Friend level, you need to then follow steps to become a Host/Traveler member. For more information about US Servas membership levels visit our how-it-works webpage. Plan Ahead SYLE programs are custom tailored to meet your needs, thus it takes time to coordinate with the host country and arrange for host families, We recommend that you apply 3-4 months in advance of the desired departure date. |
Language Immersion to improve Possible Financial Support
Servas is driven to have young people travel internationally, and here in the USA, we've set up a few grants/scholarships for our under-30 members who are willing to help us spread the word about Servas, SYLE, and cultural exchange and understanding. ✤ The Mogerman Scholarship
