2024 Annual Meeting - Make Your Voice Heard

January 23, 2024 12:01 PM | Bill Magargal (Administrator)

graphic of keyboard overlaid with US Servas logo and the words "Annual Meeting"US Servas will hold its second video-streamed Annual Meeting on Saturday, June 8th, at 10am Pacific (11 MT, 12 CT, 1pm ET). Last year's meeting was very well received by the 87 members who attended. (see article)We are hoping this year's meeting will be equally successful... a two-peat (is that a thing?).

In addition to being informative and a good way to interact with other members, the annual meeting also offers you the opportunity to make meaningful changes to how US Servas operates: its direction and focus, and even specific actions you think it should take.  If you would like to do so, you can propose specific by-law changes, and/or offer motions for other actions you wish the board to take. These must be submitted in writing to uss_admin@usservas.org on or before March 31, 2024.

    Hi Servas Family,
I joined Servas while living in Veracruz Mexico with a Servas host Juan De Leon 1968.

I've traveled with Servas for decades and hosted Servas friends from Uganda to Buenas Aires !
My daughter at 17 lived with Andre and Lourdes in Talavera de la Reina in Spain.

In 2015 I vol welcoming our Wave of Humanity on Lesvos Isle Greece. I have continued in Athens the past 8 years with our 80,000 people and no asylum .

My Syrian family got asylum in Belgium. I visited and met Servas member Benedicte de Bellefroid in 2018 . She has been a good friend for my family .

Yet I contacted 15 Servas in Belgium to visit as my family joined Servas. Only one reply and the host now does airbnb.

I contacted 10 in Italy and no reply. I've contacted 12 in California with no reply or are doing airbnb.

Suggestions: it's ironic years ago we wrote or called and got replies
Inactive Servas need to be removed from list
Servas that do not respond need to be removed from list,
it's so easy to reply and courteous in a email with
    Not available!

Ive lived on Pacific Coast Highway for 20years and host wwwwarmshowers and wwwhelpx
4-6 people or more a month.
It feels like Servas is comatose and I'm sad after decades of hosting, being hosted by Servas Families.
Plus both those websites are so easy to use.

I have Syrian Afghan families in Germany that so need Servas to welcome our Wave of Humanity !
The plan to become involved with our Wave of Humanity is so needed
And I always thought building Peace was the heart of Servas
    Gratitude for your time
    Namaste 🙏🏽
    Seek Justice
    Build Hope
    Radiate Light
    Anne Cridler
    That's my feedback
Perhaps Servas hosts don't want vintage guests!?!

Good feedback Anne. The issue of non-response to hosting requests is an issue we are seeing around much of the world. It seems to have intensified post-COVID. We don't have any way to track members who respond vs. not respond, so we can't Not sure why. Any ideas from your perspective?

PS - thanks for reading Open Doors and sharing your thoughts.
